    A professor told his students to go into the city slums (贫民窟) to study the life of 200 boys .He asked them to 1 reports(报告)about each boy's life and future . Most of the students wrote, "He doesn't have any hope."

    Mr. White is a blind man who likes traveling alone. However, as a blind man, he has met a lot of 1 during his trips.

    The best way of learning a language is by using it. The best way of learning English is talking in English as much as possible. Sometimes you will get your words mixed up and people will not understand you. Sometimes people will say things too quickly and you can't understand them. But if you keep your sense of humor, you can always have a good laugh at the mistakes. Don't be unhappy if people seem to be laughing at your mistakes. It is much better for people to be laughing at your mistakes than to be angry because they don't understand what you are saying. The most important rule for learning English is, "Don't be afraid of making mistakes, everyone makes mistakes."

    That morning, Pastor (牧师) Tipton spoke about the program on helping needy children. When the service ended, I picked one of the letters written by needy kids. My child was a boy. He wanted a pair of popular sports shoes, black, size 9.

    Then I went to have coffee with a heavy heart. After I paid all my bills (账单) this month, I only had 30 dollars left now. I wouldn't find the popular sports shoes for that price. The situation brought something painful to my mind.

    In my first year of teaching, I liked a first-grader Cameron. His father had no job but Cameron always smiled. Our school had a program.     But how could I let down this boy? The next day, I stopped at a store. After checking the shelves twice, I found a pair of black sports shoes, size9 at the very bottom of one shelf. The price was S24.99. Then I sent the shoes out. Weeks later, a thank-you card arrived, together with a photo of a boy proudly wearing a pair of black sports shoes. A feeling of happiness filled my heart.

    In late March, 2020, Fudan University Press published (出版) a book called COVID-19, From Basics To Clinical Practice in Chinese. ZhangWenhong, the leading expert of the Shanghai team treating COVID-19 patients at Shanghai Huashan Hospital, helped finish the book by leading a team.

    To help other countries know more about treating COVID-19 patients, Fudan University Press decided to translate (翻译) the book into other languages. On March 27, the press began to look for translation volunteers. Within five days, it received emails from hundreds of volunteers home and abroad. They were from all over the country as well as some foreign countries like the US, the UK, Spain, Australia and Egypt.

    The press finally chose thirteen volunteers from China and the rest of the world to translate the book into English. Each volunteer needed to translate around 15,000 Chinese characters within a week. "We've also decided to translate the book into French, German, Spanish, Italian and Persian. We will race against time to choose and organize volunteers for these translations," said Zhang Yongbin from Fudan University Press.

    Of the translation volunteers, around three in ten were university students. The others were doctors, medical workers, language teachers, etc. Jia Huei Chen-Xu, a 24-year-old medical student from Spain, volunteered to help translate the book into Spanish. She said she paid more attention to something in the book. In her opinion, it would provide new ideas for researchers around the world.

    Street stalls (摊位) are making a comeback in China after the government announced (宣布) its support in street stalls to the public.

Chengdu has set up at least 36,000 street stalls since the end of May. Changchun reported that it would encourage and support the opening of night markets. Yichang in Hubei Province has allowed stores to set up roadside stalls.

    In fact, street stalls are not new in China. Later, to have a more beautiful environment, many cities made strict rules over street stalls. So there were fewer and fewer street stalls.

    Now, thanks to the government's support, street stalls have returned.

    There are new rules for the return of street stalls. For example, people in Chengdu can only set up street stalls in special areas so that they would not affect traffic. There are also new types of street stalls. In a night market called "Anyi Night Market" in Shanghai, there are not only food sellers, but also designers and artists selling their own works.

    Street stalls are welcomed by the public. For many people, they can relax and enjoy themselves in street stalls after a day's work.
