The development of artificial intelligence (AI，人工智能)is a hot topic these days. AI makes it possible for machines to learn from experience and perform human-like tasks. But what is the future of AI? Will it be a good thing? We asked students what they think.

I'm confused (困惑的) these days. We are taught at home and at school that using violence (暴力) is the least civilized (文明的) way to solve problems. For example, last week I thought about hitting my friend for winning a beautiful shell while we were playing at the beach. But I talked with him instead and we came to an agreement. If two adults had a disagreement, and if they used violence towards each other in order to win, is it all right?

When two countries disagree, they often fight a war. Why is using violence not okay at home, at school, or in your country but okay between countries? Many people have been killed because of wars, not only soldiers (士兵) but ordinary people, even small children and babies. And refugees (难民) exist, too.

A war is a great violence, like two people fighting over a shell, just much bigger. Adults say they are fighting wars in order to solve problems and make peace. But can you really "make peace" by killing so many people? I don't think bombs (炸弹) can reach people's hearts and change them. Bombs can't create love and caring, and that's what we need in the world. Why do adults use violence so quickly? Why can't they use their wisdom and talk it over?

Adults might say that things are not that easy. But they are the ones that teach us to be kind, not to hurt people, and not to kill. Why don't they act as what they say?

As the host city of the next Winter Games, Beijing held a wonderful eight-minute show at the closing ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, sending a warm invitation to the whole world.

The show was directed by Zhang Yimou, a famous Chinese director who was also responsible for the eight-minute summer handover in Athens in 2004 as well as the opening and closing ceremonies in Beijing in 2008 that had a big success in the world.

Unlike Athens which focused on showing Chinese history with traditional culture like red lantern and jasmine (茉莉花), "Beijing 8 Minutes" gave special importance to the Chinese people's sincere welcome to the world by using modern technology.

Leading the team were two dancers in costumes of panda puppets that are the world's largest but the lightest at the same time, each weighing only about 10 kilograms. To reduce the pressure on the two dancers, researchers had tried hundreds of different materials until ending up with high-technology ones.

During the whole performance, the dancers and robots both wore LED lights on them that could be fit for the cold weather at PyeongChang Olympic Stadium without the risks of breaking. The costumes were also made with a kind of special material to keep the dancers warm.

Performers danced with 24 intelligent robots—standing for Beijing hosting the 24th Winter Olympics. They showed scenes of sports such as skating and skiing.

Pictures were projected to the icy floor while dancers skated across it, making a sense of augmented reality (增强现实). A number of moving screens in the middle of the field were also controlled by artificial intelligence (人工智能).

Bright colors lead to active feelings. For example, the color red can cause people to feel excited. In fact, red can even make a person feel hungrier. Yellow can increase energy. Therefore, a room with strong red and yellow colors would be a good place to eat a lot of food quickly.

On the other hand, darker colors, like blue and green are peaceful. The color blue can help people calm (使平静下来) down. So, a blue room can be a good place to study. However, it is easier to nod off in a blue room than in a red one. So some good ways can be used to avoid falling asleep easily.

The colors of clothes can also influence people's feelings. Black and deep-blue clothes can produce a sense of strength and seriousness. Therefore, a person in a black suit can seem like a leader more easily than one wearing white. If a person is wearing a dark suit and a red tie, he or she may seem both powerful and energetic (精力充沛的). Perhaps this is why many business people wear dark suits with red ties. Brown and green clothes can produce a sense of confidence (自信). That means it may seem easier to trust the people wearing such colors. Therefore, many people choose to wear green or brown clothes for meetings or interviews.

Choice of color, for rooms as well as clothes, is not simply about appearance.

When I was a little girl, I was the center of attention. I had control of the soccer field and played football with the boys. I shared my thoughts in class discussions, never fearing I was wrong. I led my life happily. Judgment(评价)from others didn't trouble me.

But finally, my family left for a new place. And I had to attend a new school. I felt as if I had lost my value; after all, what is a ruler without her lands? Now, it's a completely new life for me.

Over time, I started to care about what others thought of me. I stopped playing football and racing others. I never raised my hand in class or discussed with my classmates. The worry was: what if I was not perfect?

A few months later, when I arrived home with tears(泪水)in my eyes, I saw a letter on my door. In the letter, I was described as a role model. I learned that someone who had clearly seen my pain and worry tried to comfort(安慰)me, I gave up my joy to create a perfect person.

The letter changed me a lot. I tried to be myself-not to pay much attention to being perfect again.

It's not easy to achieve success. I deeply believe that it is worth taking time and 1 to prepare for big tasks, especially after my first experience of giving a 2.

I will never forget how difficult it is to give my first speech. It 3 me a whole day to prepare for the topic and write a suitable speech. I searched for information online for a long time so I could 4 that my manuscript (手稿)was perfect. I tried to recite it, but I soon found that it was even 5 than I thought it would be.

Asking for help is a useful way to deal with a hard task. I turned to my teacher, who gave me lots of 6 that were of great help to me.
