    Here's the story of my growth over the past year. If anyone is inspired (激励) by this, that's wonderful.

    I'd been stuck as this under-confident, fat and just frightened girl for years and years and years. Since I was a little girl, I'd been stuck like this, and I had lived a life where I'd be afraid of everything. But then it all started changing. Something clicked, and in over a period of 6 months I finally managed to stick to one of my diets, bringing me from overweight straight down to underweight. This proved (证明) that I could change myself.

    One single time, I heard about a public speaking thing going on at my university, and for the first time, I managed to keep up the courage to go there. For the first time I was able to share my story, and able to do it in front of so many people possibly judging (评判) me, and suddenly all the fears about speaking publicly started vanishing. I never felt more confident.

    This taught me I could get rid (去除) of my fears  It was from that point on that my road to change went from a rocky mess to a full-on empty highway.

    Using the fact that I could change, and that I could get rid of my fears, I started working on them one by one. My fear of talking to strangers ,my fear of asking simple questions, my fear of hanging out with people, my fear of being myself... All of them were gone. And I still continue to progress to this day. I've never stopped.

    I was given the book Running on Faith written by Jason Lester as a birthday gift last month. After I started reading, I really couldn't keep my eyes off it. It is always inspiring to read a story of someone who has gone through obstacles to reach his goals.

    Jason Lester is a disabled (残疾的) extreme athlete. When he was twelve years old, a fast car ran a red light and hit him. Then he was sent into the hospital with twenty broken bones and. a famous baseball player, but at that a seriously injured arm. Jason had always wanted to become a time that dream was gone.

    However, Jason loved sports and he still wanted to be a good athlete. He began running and taking part in duathlons(铁人两项) in high school. Years later in 2004, he decided to start training for the Ironman, and has competed in many extreme races since then. In 2008, Jason became the first disabled athlete to complete the Ultraman (320 miles of biking, swimming and running) ,and it led him to an ESPY award (奖项) for Best Male Athlete with a Disability in 2009.

    If you are in a bad situation and don't know what to do now, Running on Faith is a good book for you. If you love running and want to reach some race goals, this book is good for you, too. Anyway, this book is worth reading for everyone who loves reading and wants to turn dreams into reality.

    The importance of reading literature often seems lost on many Chinese people. Even experts in education think that the first goal of education is to encourage a love of learning. There is therefore the possibility of something wrong with the way students are taught here.

    Why should they read literature? Do stories have value compared with the reading and learning of facts? Studies show clearly that the most powerful ways of learning are by experience, action and doing experiments and taking risks. Yet there are so many important things to learn that cannot be learned in these ways: feelings, problem solving, danger and relationships, for example. Research into this has shown how deep reading is a valuable experience different to a learning of words or facts. Keen(热心的) readers of -literature show a better understanding of others. Their abilities to make good decisions are raised. Young children who enjoy a parent reading stories to them show greater awareness(意识) when they reach school age.

    The best schools do seem to provide a limited (有限的) chance to enjoy literature, usually about the Chinese classic stories but there is not enough "free" time for students. There are enough reading materials (材料). Chinese book shops are full of story books, and most of them are of good quality (质量) in terms of content, plot (情节) and language. Was there not a Chinese author who received a Nobel Prize for literature recently? There are moves in Chinese education to promote (提升) decision making and shared values. The value of literature is helpful to these as well as to the future of China.

    Tourism can be both good and bad. Yes, it brings in money for the local economy and creates lots of jobs for locals.

    One growing problem is tourists who want to prove that they have visited a destination. They have used paints, rocks, or even keys to write on the Luxor Temple in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, Stonehenge in the UK, and many, many other places.

    Another big problem in some places has been tourists disturbing (打扰) the local people and life. Some tourists walk around and take pictures of local people without asking for their permission(准许). For example, Chiang Mai University in Thailand and Yonsei University in South Korea have great numbers of tourists visiting their campuses and walking through their libraries, taking pictures of students, and disturbing their studies. Some tourists love to party there late into the night, making it difficult for locals to sleep.

    Walking in large groups without considering others who need to walk by, crossing roads without thinking of local traffic laws, and many more, can be seen everywhere.

      The only way to solve the problem of terrible tourists is to make sure that you are not one! Remember, whenever you step out of your country, you are representing (代表) your country to the rest of the world.

    When the 28-year-old farmer Ureta met 17-year-old Graciela in his hometown Pampa, they fell in love. Two years later, they 1 and settled down (定居)on the farm where Ureta had been brought up.

    Lang Ping and Michael Jordan are masters in their sports and also set good examples for others.

    Lang ping is loved by fans at home and abroad. When the Chinese team was preparing for the 2015 World Cup, her determination (test). Two players had to leave. Losing two important players was big challenge, but Lang Ping did not lose heart. She knew her young players could win they worked togethera team. Two weeks later, they were world champions!

    Michael Jordan who became (know) as "Air Jordan" changed basketball with his graceful moves and jumps. His skills were (impress), but the mental strength that he showed made him unique. He always seemed to find a way (win). Jordan says the secret to his success is learning from his (fail). Losing games taught him to practice even(hard) than before. In life, Jordan has learnt to share his success with others. The Boys and Girls Club which he started in Chicago (help) young people since 1996.

    They are our pride and their legends continue.
