    It is said that leaves live for flowers. But when flowers have gone, what do leaves live1? I didn't know myself until recently.

    One day last month, when I got back home from school, I smelt something nice. I saw2plant with some red and pink flowers on the tea table.

    "How beautiful they are!" I said. The flowers which had leaves around them stood in a bottle with some water in it. Mom said," I3them in a flower market just now."

    I took the plant out. I found it4from a tree, so it had no roots (根). I thought the flowers would die in a few days. It made me5a little sad.

    The plant is still in the bottle on the table with many green leaves. They are more beautiful than the flowers!

    Zhong loves sports. He has10exercised since he was young. Even today, at the age of84, he exercises more than three times a week, and can even do 10 push-ups in one breath. He thinks that exercise plays a key role in keeping people healthy.

Mars has often been regarded as a possible place for human beings to live in the future. It is the fourth planet from the sun and the second-smallest planet in the solar system. Though it's Earth's closest neighbor, Mars is still far away. It takes a spaceship about nine months to travel there.

    Mars welcomed a new guest on Nov 27th, 2018. It is NASA's InSight spacecraft(探测器). It is the eighth spacecraft to successfully land on Mars. The last one was

    NASA's Curiosity rover (火星车) in 2012. But InSight is different. It is the first lander to study things inside the red planet. It has a 1.8-meter-long arm which it uses to move the science tools. There is a camera on the arm to take colorful pictures of Mars. To help it stand steadily on Mars, it has three legs so that it doesn't fall down. Two big solar arrays (太阳能电池板) provide it with energy.

    So far, InSight has spent nearly 24 months - about one Martian year - on Mars. Its main job is to stand on one place and dig deep inside Mars. It has collected a lot of information that could perhaps explain how Mars formed. This information may even help scientists learn more about how Earth formed.

    "The reason why we're digging into Mars is to better understand not just Mars, but Earth itself," Bruce Banerdt from NASA said. InSight is just a beginning for future studies of Mars. NASA wants to send humans to Mars by the mid-2030s.

    Once a farmer found a gold box while working in the field. In the box there was an old book. The farmer read it over and discovered that it was book on magic.

Tom and Jerry 80 years!

    Everyone's favorite cat and mouse, Tom and Jerry created by Joseph Barbara and William Hanna, are 80 years old this year. It first came out in 1940 and has been popular since then.

    Tom, the grey cat is full of energy. He is always trying to make his owner happy, y He tries many different ways to catch Jerry the brown mouse who is much cleverer than Tom. Many times he succeeds, however his happiness always ends too soon. Jerry can always get away from him. Sometimes, Tom and Jerry get together to fight against a strong enemy.

In the movie, Jerry lives within the walls of a large, New England country home. He and his owners, a loving elderly couple are good friends. However, their friendship comes to an end after the elderly couple die and their house is put up for sale. When a young family moves in, Jerry's decided to force them away from taking away his home. The family quickly gets a cat, Tom, to help them. In their fight for the house, Tom and Jerry soon discover their growing love for the family and must work together to protect them from an outside threat(威胁). Through their teamwork, they both learn the true value of family and friendship at last. The movie shows how Tom and Jerry first meet and form their rivalry(对抗).
