    Our English teacher was like a friend to us, and we all liked her. One day she came into the classroom and shouted, "Who did this?" She held up a piece of broken glass and asked, "Who 1 the window?" She seldom became angry, 2 this time she was.

    Twelve years ago, Mr. Brown, a friend of my parents' went to Africa to help in a poor country.

    One afternoon, Mr. Brown took a walk in a town. The town was destroyed(破坏) during a war. He saw something moving in the long grass and thought it was an animal. As he got closer, he found it was a baby boy. The boy got hurt a little. Mr. Brown asked a guide, "Can we find his family?" The guide looked around and said, " I don't think so. " Finally, Mr. Brown adopted(收养) the baby with the help of many friends. The next year, Mr. Brown took him back to America and gave him the name Liam.

    Liam isn't as big as the other kids, but he is a good student and he is on our school football team. Everyone in our school likes Liam. Whenever there is a need, he always the first one to help out.

    Last year, our school decided to sponsor ten poor children. We needed to raise money and sent it to them every month. Liam spent plenty of hours setting up the whole thing. In the end, we raised so much money that we were able to sponsor twenty children.

    Do you know why Liam always works so hard? Because many people have worked hard to give him a chance in life.

    It's interesting and sometimes exciting to visit a friend's house. But do you know how to be a polite visitor? Here are some tips.  Arrive on time. It's quite important. If your friend tells you to come at about 4:00, you'd better arrive at his home from 3:55 to 4:05. It will make both you and your friend embarrassed(尴尬)if you arrive too early or too late.

    Bring a little gift. It's often great to bring something cheap but nice to your friend's house. A box of chocolates, a CD or some flowers would be fine. It's a good way to show your friend that you are excited to be at his home.

    Show enough respect(尊敬). Sometimes you may meet your friend's parents. You should greet them and introduce yourself. Don't call your friend's parents by their first names as you call your friend at any time. Calling them Mr. or Mrs. plus their family names would show your politeness(礼貌) and respect.

    Be polite to your friend and his family, you'll be welcome again.

    One early morning on my way to work, I saw a little girl carrying a beautiful Hello Kitty schoolbag. I could imagine that she must love her schoolbag a lot. It was so big that it could hold a lot of things. Since it had two wheels, it was easy to carry. "How wonderful!" I said to myself.

    I remembered my first schoolbag was a green cloth bag that my mom made for me. It took her a week to make it. After a quick breakfast, I said to her, "It's time for school. Bye, mom!" I ran to school. At that time, my schoolbag was so light. When I jumped, it jumped. All things in it gave out cheerful sounds all the way along.

    As I grew older, my schoolbag became heavier and heavier. And with years it lost its color and there were even holes in it. Finally it came to an end(结束). I put it in a nice box. When I was in Grade Four, my mother bought me a new schoolbag. It was yellow. It had a few pockets and either side of the schoolbag could carry something. I was happy to go out every day with it. Two kilometers of the trip to school seemed as if it were just a few steps away. To my shame, I lost it when I was playing in a park two years later.

    Though my first schoolbag is small, and was made by my mother herself, it's my real Hello Kitty schoolbag in my heart. Every time I take it out from the box to have a look, sweet memories come back.
